MS do recommend uninstalling older Office versions first, likely because an uninstall fail can require intervention, but I've not found it necessary in our environment so far. This is what I do at our company and it works fine. Office2010 setup.exe is able to uninstall/remove Office2007 without firing a 2007uninstall first.
The current snag I am on is the Office 2007 uninstallation shows that it is waiting for user condition even though no user is logged into the computer and the uninstall should be silent.ĭave G. To accomplish this we are trying to create a silent uninstall for Office 2007 and a silent install for Office 2010 that requires the Office 2007 uninstall to be run first. What we want to accomplish is to uninstall Office 2007 and install Office 2010 without having users logged in. I have been working with our new SCCM 2012 server getting ready to perform our Office upgrade path to 2010 from 2007.
